The mascara-fueled journey continues. This week I couldn’t help but think of just how much social media influences and is involved with the beauty world. Social media assists beauty gurus in quick uploads, fast advertisements (of their own content or sponsored content for example) and, a unique way to reach a variety of audiences.

One of my favorite examples would be James Charles, of course. His Instagram profile has amassed over 13 million followers. That is more than some professional athletes, celebrities and, fashion designers. I mean, he really is an icon. James’ YouTube channel has also earned an astounding following of over 13 million .
James is just one great example of how social media is so beneficial to the make-up community. In one of his videos, he goes on to explain how social media also cuts down on advertising costs for the brands pushing products as well: Instead of paying for an entire commercial to be produced (with models, a set to shoot, the camera equipment and, on-set crew, that could be upwards of $500,000), brands can pay influencers to demonstrate and review products on-line for $60,000. This increases profit margins by about 88%.

It’s easy to see how social media affects beauty influencers’ … I can only hope to reach as many people with the little blog I have going on here ![]()
